We are excited to announce an enhanced integration between KoboToolbox and TolaData that expands our existing plug-in to streamline the connection between your data collection and reporting workflows.
With our new Auto-Pull feature, data collected on the ground using KoboToolbox now flows instantly and directly into your organisation’s indicator workflows and reporting in TolaData. This new automated integration eliminates time-consuming manual updating, so your team can focus on what truly matters: creating impactful, data-driven change.
How It Works
TolaData’s Auto-Pull feature allows organisations to automatically synchronise data submissions from KoboToolbox projects directly with TolaData. To set up the integration, users first connect their KoboToolbox account to TolaData using their KoboToolbox API key. Next, they specify which forms they want to pull from KoboToolbox into TolaData’s data table section.
Finally, for each indicator, users set up an auto-pull rule that determines how the form data will be used to calculate the indicator’s results. These customisable rules provide a high level of flexibility. With this integration, data from KoboToolbox is instantly updated in TolaData, ensuring that project indicators and disaggregated data are always current without the need for manual updates.

Stronger Together: Automated Efficiency with TolaData and KoboToolbox
The enhanced integration between TolaData and KoboToolbox provides a robust, comprehensive solution for end-to-end data management. By automating the flow of data from KoboToolbox’s high quality data collection tool to TolaData’s powerful tracking and reporting system, organisations can leverage the advantages of a seamless, full-cycle process across the two platforms.
Automation in the monitoring and evaluation cycle offers significant benefits for users in the international development sector:
- Enhanced efficiency: By automatically synchronising data collected via KoboToolbox with TolaData, teams can focus on analysing data and making informed decisions, rather than spending time on administrative tasks and manual updates.
- Improved data accuracy: Automation reduces the risk of human error, leading to more reliable reporting and better tracking of project indicators.
- Greater flexibility: The combination of KoboToolbox’s data collection capabilities—including offline functionality and mobile device compatibility—with TolaData’s reporting tools ensures that critical information is captured and utilised effectively, regardless of location or connectivity. This makes it easier to manage projects in remote and challenging environments.
This automated integration optimises data workflows for our clients who already use KoboToolbox and offers a solution for those seeking a data collection tool that functions offline or on mobile devices. With the Auto-Pull feature now available for data collected on both TolaData Forms and KoboToolbox, we are also preparing to extend the deployment of this feature to other integrated data collection tools on TolaData.
